Senior Design Engineer- Exterior Noise GTT Chassis

There is now an opportunity for you to join us in the Exterior noise team as Specialist Design Engineer.

Who are we, your new colleagues?

In the Exterior Noise team, we have the responsibility to secure that the products deliver the legal and quality noise requisites. To secure this, we are responsible for the noise package design but also working together with a big cross-functional team composed of other GTT groups. The team is responsible to manage and set the component level requirements, design acoustic solutions, perform exterior noise simulations, follow tests and certification procedures, build the exterior noise roadmap, including advanced engineering and new technologies.

Who are you?

Being a true problem solver is something that inspires you! As a Design Engineer you work closely with the team and other functions to improve the design of the Noise shields. The main part of the role is to include all the stakeholders and evaluate / improve the design where communication is the key to success.

Key Responsibilities are: 

• Design Noise shield and Protection shield components
• Design for NVH, durability and sustainability features
• Cross functional design work with Aftermarket, Purchasing and Manufacturing
• Lead and drive technical issues / changes / features
• A-Release work of components
• FMEA
• Prototype and Test built coordination

Qualifications

• MSc in Mechanical engineering or equivalent
• Several years of experience of Product Development / Design Engineering
• Excellent skills of design in CREO (or similar program)
• Knowledge of designing in surfaces, sheet metal and castings
• Experience of KOLA and other Volvo System is beneficial
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Good knowledge of Durability (NVH is beneficial)

About us

You will belong to the Chassis Department within Volvo Group Trucks Technology. Our team is responsible for the Exterior noise feature and develop and design Noise shields for Volvo electric and ice vehicles, heavy duty range as FML/FM/FMX/FH. We carry out our work in all stages of the product development: Complete Vehicle Projects, Product Maintenance, Advanced Engineering and Component Projects.
