The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a partnership organization of 13 European member countries located in the city of Lund, Sweden. The ESS is hiring motivated and inspiring people from across the globe to design, construct and operate the world’s most powerful neutron source. We seek collaborative, talented people in a range of fields who are excited about playing a part in the future of science in Europe.
The Neutron Scattering Systems division (NSS), in collaboration with its European partners, is at the forefront of delivering cutting-edge neutron beamlines and developing key technologies to facilitate the scientific utilization of produced neutrons at our facility. 15 neutron beamlines are currently under construction at ESS and a total of 22 beamlines is planned to complete our state-of-the-art instrument suite.
The Technical Projects Group (TPG), a vital component of the NSS division, provides the engineering expertise that drive the construction of neutron beamlines at ESS and contribute to the design and development of specialized instrumentation components. From radiological shielding systems to neutron polarization capabilities, TPG plays a vital role in ensuring the integration of the most advanced neutron delivery technologies to our entire instrument suite.
About the role:
We are seeking a Mechanical engineer with a strong background in designing and constructing cutting-edge scientific instrumentation to join our multidisciplinary team of engineers. As part of our team, you will play a key role in the design, construction, and integration of beamline components such as neutron guides, high performance positioning systems and large vacuum vessels.
