Role Overview

As a Project Manager at Spowdi, you will play a central role in the execution of our smart farming initiatives, leading implementation projects in collaboration with local partners, supporting business development, and contributing to product and technology strategy. You will act as a subject matter expert in sustainable irrigation, leveraging your deep understanding of smallholder farmer contexts in India and Kenya.

This position requires both technical and operational experience and a proven ability to lead cross-functional efforts in diverse markets. You will report to the COO and work closely with Spowdi’s implementation partners, field agents, and R&D team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead execution of pilot and scale-up projects across India and Africa, ensuring delivery against impact, commercial, and operational KPIs.
• Provide technical guidance and training to field agents, partners, and end-users on the use of Spowdi’s solar-powered irrigation technology.
• Coordinate logistics, product delivery, and field support in collaboration with Spowdi’s local and regional partners.
• Collect and analyze field data, including usage metrics, crop impact, and farmer feedback, to guide future deployments.
• Contribute to the ongoing development of the Spowdi IoT platform and app, including usability, field data integration, and farmer dashboard features.
• Act as a liaison between Spowdi and grassroots organizations, ensuring alignment on implementation plans and training programs.
• Support business development efforts by identifying new partnership opportunities and contributing to proposals.
• Represent Spowdi in discussions with local NGOs, agribusinesses, and financing institutions.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in agriculture, environmental science, engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is considered an asset.
• Minimum 2–4 years of experience in project management or technical deployment in agriculture, green tech, or rural development.
• Proven knowledge of smallholder farming systems and practical challenges in Kenya and India.
• Strong fieldwork background, including experience in rural, remote, or low-resource settings.
• High level of self-sufficiency and professionalism; ability to manage complex projects independently.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Fluent in English; African and Indian language are advantageous.
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently to project sites.
