Develop and Verify Next Generation Software within Vehicle Tophat Domain at Volvo Cars

What we offer:

Volvo Cars is building a centralized compute platform with DriveOS and NVIDIA's latest chip technology. We develop software for vehicle interiors (e.g., wireless charging, lighting, safety systems) and exteriors (e.g., lighting, wipers, sensor cleaning). Our team is responsible for creating and maintaining advanced Hardware-in-Loop (HIL) setups that emulate real vehicle dynamics for testing platform, software, and functions before launch.

Your role:

As a team member, you will develop, validate, and maintain HIL setups, integrating simulated and real hardware components. You’ll focus on test automation, enabling Continuous Integration and Deployment. This role offers exposure to next-generation vehicles, collaboration with diverse teams, and opportunities for professional growth.

What you'll bring:

  • Degree in Electrical/Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, or related fields
  • Knowledge of software development, verification, and HIL testing (4+ years)
  • Experience in MATLAB/Simulink, debugging, and vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Fluent English and strong teamwork skills

Bonus skills:

  • Programming (Python/C++/CAPL)
  • Sensor integration (radar, lidar, etc.)
  • Experience in test automation and vehicle simulations
  • Driving license 'B'

What you'll bring

You will fit well in this role if you are a Modeling and Simulation Engineer focusing on modelbased development on HIL test beds and an understanding of Software Verification cycles 

correlated to Model Based Development (SIL, HIL, VIL and Test Track). We believe you are an individual who is motivated by challenging tasks in a complex and innovative environment. Execution of challenging technology development and teamwork is your real passion. You enjoy learning from others, as well as sharing your knowledge with your colleague and are social, structured, analytical, and a problem solver.

To thrive in this role we believe you at least have:

  • A M.Sc. or a B.Sc. within Electrical/Embedded Systems, Electronics, Physics, Mechatronics or similar
  • Knowledge of Software Development, Verification and Validation
  • 4+ Years of Relevant Experience in HIL Development and HIL Testing 
  • Fluent in English and can communicate effectively with all types of stakeholders
  • Working experience in Matlab and Simulink for Model Development
  • Debugging Experience with Integration of SW components and Models with Hardware Nodes 
  • Knowledge in vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet)
  • Working knowledge in hardware-in-loop environments such as dSpace, Vector or National Instruments

And it's a bonus if you have:

  • Programming skills in Python/C++/CAPL 
  • Experience from SW platform development, including middleware
  • Knowledge in vehicle/traffic simulation
  • Knowledge in integration of sensor technologies (radar, camera, lidar, ultrasonic etc.)
  • Verification in vehicles at system or functional level or experience from test automation
  • Experience from SW platform development, including middleware
  • Driving License ‘B’
