The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for scientific research using neutrons. Every year, we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to the Institute to carry out world-class research

Are you interested in taking up a new challenge in our international institute?

As a systems and network engineer, you will play an active role in innovative IT projects. Come and join us so you can put your technical expertise to work and help shape the future of technology at the ILL.

Your tasks

Building on your experience, particularly with open source technologies and the open source community, you will play a key role in the architecture and implementation of IT projects at the ILL. As a member of the IT Service, your main responsibilities will be as follows:

. Project implementation:

You will work closely with project managers and group leaders, bringing your technical expertise into play to ensure project success. You will take part in technical discussions and propose and implement system and network architectures.

. Network configuration and maintenance support:

You will also be involved in implementing, upgrading and maintaining a secure network infrastructure.

. Innovation and technology watch:

You will monitor open source technologies and best practices in the sector on an ongoing basis, incorporating this knowledge into projects. You will therefore be responsible for proposing solutions and tools to meet the needs of the various departments within the ILL.

Technical environment

At the ILL, we like to work on on-premises infrastructures, lovingly managed in-house, running mainly on Linux and with a lot of open-source software.

If you're familiar with some of the following technologies, you're definitely the hidden gem we're looking for: Debian, Proxmox, Kubernetes, Docker, Ceph, PostgreSQL (and still quite a bit of Oracle), Keycloak/LemonLDAP::NG, Ansible, Gitlab CI/CD, Quarkus, AngularJS, Node.js, and all kinds of APIs on our internal applications.

Your profile

. You have a level 7 qualification (Master's degree or equivalent) specialising in computing, networks and telecommunications.

. You have at least 5 years' experience in systems engineering, ideally acquired working in a digital services company, including extensive experience of managing a network infrastructure.

. You are curious, well organised and open to discussion and are recognised for your proactive and efficient approach.

. Your flair for innovation and drive for continuous optimisation and improvement are valuable assets.
